The 2005 Blackjack Block 6 Shiraz takes out the Best Shiraz and The Best Red Wine at the 2007 Rutherglen Wine Show. After being awarded a gold medal in Class 233 (Vintage 2005 Dry Red, Shiraz), the wine went on to win the Plasdene Glass-Pak Pty Ltd Perpetual Trophy for best shiraz and the Seguin Moreau Special Award for best dry red of the show.
MEDIA RELEASE: 1 OCTOBER 2007 BlackJack 2005 Block 6 Shiraz stars at Rutherglen Wine Show BlackJack Wines, located in the Harcourt Valley just south of Bendigo, notched up another admirable performance last week when its 2005 Block 6 Shiraz took out a special award, a trophy and a gold medal at the 2007 Rutherglen Wine Show. After being awarded a gold medal in Class 233 (Vintage 2005 Dry Red, Shiraz), the wine went on to win the Plasdene Glass-Pak Pty Ltd Perpetual Trophy for best shiraz and the Seguin Moreau Special Award for best dry red of the show. “It’s always pleasing to do well at the Rutherglen Show because it attracts entries from all over Australia and is one of the country’s most highly regarded regional wine shows,” said Ian McKenzie, who shares winemaking duties at BlackJack with Ken Pollock. Block 6 Shiraz has been a solid performer for BlackJack, with the inaugural 2002 vintage winning the trophies for best shiraz and best Victorian wine at the 2004 Royal Melbourne Show. “We’ve had a good time at wine shows recently,” said Ian. “We were awarded two silver and two bronze medals at this year’s Royal Melbourne, and our 2005 Shiraz won gold at the recent 2007 WineWise Small Vignerons Awards.” BlackJack 2005 Block 6 Shiraz is currently available (RRP $35).
